MJC Meelad-un- Nabi Message PDF  | Print |  E-mail

All praise is due to Allah who sent the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as a mercy to mankind. Peace, Blessings and Salutations on our beloved Prophet and teacher (pbuh).
Muslims locally, nationally as well as internationally find themselves in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the month in which the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was born. As a tradition amongst Muslims, especially in Cape Town, people gather in Masajid and various other places to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet (pbuh).

The gatherings of Meelad-un-Nabi are indeed a great means of calling people towards Almighty Allah. It is, therefore, compulsory on the lecturers / Imams that they should teach people about the virtues, excellences, character and standard of living of the Holy Prophet (pbuh). The masses should be invited towards good deeds, success and the path that will bring them closer to the Almighty Allah.

The month of Rabi-ul-Awwal should not only be about the celebration or commemoration of the birth of the Noble Prophet (pbuh), but rather a reflection on the pure life of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The intention of every Muslim, while celebrating the month of His birth must be to increase our love of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), to follow his pure and noble lifestyle and to ultimately gain the love of Allah.
“Say (O Muhammad pbuh to mankind): If you really love Allah then follow, Allah will love you…” (Quran 3: 31)

Our resolve to follow on this path of goodness and purity should be so strong that we develop the fear to indulge in any action that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) disliked.
I pray and ask Allah to make us true followers of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and gather us all with his Prophets in the highest place of heaven. Amin.
