MASSACRE IN EGYPT CONDEMNED IN THE STRONGEST TERMS

The Muslim Judicial Council [MJC] condemns the massacre currently taking place in Egypt which has resulted in the death of hundreds of civilians in the Rabaa Al Adawiyya area. We are shocked that there has been no international intervention since democracy was toppled by the Egyptian military through a violent coup and that the democratically elected leader, Muhammad Mursi has been imprisoned.

IFTAAR IN HONOUR OF PALESTINIAN GRADUATES PDF  | Print |  E-mail

The Muslim Judicial Council [MJC] hosted a special Iftaar program on the 28 July 2013/1434 at the Islamic Peace University of South Africa in honour of two Palestinian graduates who completed their Masters degrees at the University of Cape Town.  Palestinian scholars currently studying in South Africa are beneficiaries of an agreement between the President of the MJC, Maulana Ihsaan Hendricks and the leader of the Islamic Movement, Shaykh Raed Saleh.  Maulana Ihsaan initiated the project in order to make a meaningful contribution towards the Palestinian community.

RE: STATUS OF Erf 55585, 26 DRAPER STREET, CLAREMONT

The Muslim Judicial Council [MJC] declares and reaffirms a public statement made by the MJC in 1973 by the former President of the MJC at the time, Shaykh Ihsaan Gamieldien who stated that “Henceforth Muslim burial grounds are sacred and therefore it cannot be sold nor can bodies be exhumed”.  Further documentation In reference to the statement by the MJC is found in Dr Achmat Davids’ publication titled the History of the Tana Baru which states that “all Muslim cemeteries are sacred and cannot be desecrated in any way”.

MJC meets with DIRCO PDF  | Print |  E-mail

 

Following the Muslim Judicial Council led peaceful protest march denouncing the coup d ‘etat in Egypt which was supported by 8 major Islamic Organizations in South Africa. The MJC met with the Deputy Minister of International Relations Co-operation, Mr. Marius Fransman.

The agenda of the meeting was to express the MJC’s disappointment that the memorandum addressed to the Minister of International Relations and Co-operation, Minister Maite Nkoana- Mashabane was not received by a Member of Parliament.  MJC further expressed their appreciation for the speedy and positive action taken by the African Union and the SA Government to restore democracy in Egypt.
