MJC Meets with Egyptian and Saudi Arabian Ambassadors

An MJC delegation headed by President Moulana Igsaan Hendricks met with both the Egyptian and Saudi Arabian Ambassadors. Matters of mutual concerns were discussed.

DQA Quranic Revision Program

The MJC Presidency appeals to both ulema and the broader public to attend the Department of Quranic Affairs’ Quranic Revision Program. The program is run under the offices of the Muslim Judicial Council.

This Program was initiated to provide our Huffaath with an opportunity to revise that which they have memorized of the Holy Quran. The Mass Quran Revision Program is structured in a way which gives the Hafith an opportunity to set small goals that will ultimately result in him developing a revision routine that will suit his lifestyle.
We strongly urge Huffaath and members of the community to participate in this program.

MJC Meets with the Crescent Observers Society

The Muslim Judicial Council together with the Crescent Observers Society met to finalize the Ramadan Calendar.

The MJC will be issuing and distributing Ramadan Calendars in the next few days, Insha-Allah.

MJC Bids Farewell to Ebrahim Rasool

The Muslim Judicial Council will be attending a farewell dinner hosted by The World for All Foundation, in honor of its founding member Ebrahim Rasool. Mr Rasool former Premier of the Western Cape together with his family will be leaving for Washington, USA. He has been appointed ambassador designate in the United States.

Fitra and Fidyah Rates for Ramadaan 1431 / 2010

The Fatwa Committee of the MJC has deliberated and investigated the FITRA and FIDYAH amounts for the coming Ramadaan and together with the Imaarah (senior council) of the MJC have finalized the Fitra and Fidyah amounts.

As is known we normally calculate our amounts according to the prices of rice which is the staple food of Cape Muslims. That refers to an average type of rice, not necessarily the best type available.

Hence we inform you that for Ramadaan this year the amounts of fitra and fidyah will be as follows:

Fitra: R26.00 (twenty six rand)

Fidyah: R13.00 (thirteen rand)

This is bare minimum.

For those who can afford we say that they can and may increase the amount according to their means  OR they may decide to hand out their fitra by calculating 2.5kg of higher quality rice and either hand it personally to the recipients of the equivalent thereof in money.
