Times promotional review contains despicable hate speech PDF Print E-mail

The Muslim Judicial Council hereby charges the promotional article of the Lexus IS250C which appeared in the Times newspaper, dated 24 February 2010 as one of the most despicable forms of hate speech against the Muslim community.
The article written by Andrea Nagel expressed a shocking, derogatory and insulting phrase which compared and describes the silent purr of the Lexus IS250C to a “Muslim rodent in a synagogue”.

The Muslim Judicial Council wishes to express its support to the Turkish Prime Minister, Mr Recep Tayyip Erdogan who has taken constructive steps to wrestle the control of Turkish society from the secularist military which has dominated politics since Kamal Ataturk’s reign.Turkey's secular military has ousted four governments since 1960, proof to many that it has been the real power in the country since Ataturk set up the secularist republic from the ashes of the Ottoman Empire.

The MJC hosts Imam ul Haram PDF Print E-mail

Barely a week after the arrival of another descendant of the Prophet Muhamad (PBUH) to Cape Town, a second scholar - this time one of the imams of the Haram Makkah - is expected to arrive in Cape Town on Sunday. According to the president of the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC), Maulana Igsaan Hendricks, Sheikh Khalid al Ghamidi will be the guest of the MJC during his three day stay in the Mother City.

"Besides the fact that he will be visiting the offices of the MJC, he will be visiting some important Islamic centres. He will also be performing salah at one or two of our important masajid here in Cape Town. Because of his short stay we will try to spread him around the various mosques. Hopefully, in the next day or two we should be ready to announce his official program," Hendricks said.

CONDEMNATION OF DECISION BY ISRAELI GOVERNMENT TO INCLUDE IBRAHIMI AND BILAL BIN RABAH MOSQUES AS ISRAELI ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES

The Al-Quds Foundation SA, The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) and the Media Review Network (MRN) strongly condemn the decision of the Israeli Government to include the Ibrahimi mosque in Al Khalil (Hebron) as well as the Bilal BIn Rabah mosque in Bait Laham (Bethlehem) on the list of Israeli archeological sites. This decision is an extremely outrageous one and is yet another indication of Israel’s deliberate disregard for religious and heritage sites of the Palestinian people.

Muslim delegation meets leadership of State Security Agency PDF Print E-mail

A group comprising of 12 members of the Muslim community today met with three leadership figures within South Africa’s intelligence community, representing both the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the South African Secret Service (SASS).

The 12 were drawn from a number of organisations within the Muslim community, including the ‘Ulama, legal, academic and media fraternities. Organisations represented at the meeting included the United Ulama Council of South Africa, Muslim Judicial Council, Jamiatul Ulama, Sunni Jamiyat-e-Ulama, the Muslim Lawyers’ Association and the Somali Association of South Africa. The meeting was initiated by Ebrahim Patel, who requested the State Security Agency (SSA) – which encompasses NIA and SASS – to meet with a delegation from the South African Muslim community to discuss what he called a “campaign to spread fear in South Africa through rumours of a terror threat to the Soccer World Cup”.
